Riot Games is bringing VALORANT into the heart of Melbourne this month, with a free two-day gaming pop-up taking over the Promenade outside Crown as part of Melbourne International Games Week.

VALORANT Laneways will run on 10 and 11 October, giving Australian players the chance to play VALORANT on console, take part in interactive activities and meet other members of the game’s local community.

VALORANT Takes Over a Melbourne Laneway

The event has been designed around Melbourne’s distinctive laneway culture, combining the visual style of VALORANT with an industrial, street-inspired setting.

Riot says the pop-up will feature graffiti-inspired sprays, posters, street textures and branded installations, including a laneway spray wall. Visitors will also be able to participate in VALORANT-themed skill games and activities with prizes available.

Console gaming stations will give fans the opportunity to play during the event, while seating and shaded areas will provide space to watch gameplay and connect with other players and creators.

Entry is free, with the event running from 11am until 9pm AEDT on both Saturday 10 October and Sunday 11 October.

Celebrating VALORANT’s Australian Console Launch

The Melbourne event follows the recent launch of VALORANT on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in Australia and New Zealand.

Previously best known as a PC title, Riot’s tactical shooter has now expanded its local audience through console, with VALORANT Laneways intended to celebrate both the new release and the community built around the game over the past five years.

The pop-up forms part of the official Melbourne International Games Week public program, which brings gaming events, developers and fans together across Melbourne in early October.

VCT Champions Watch Parties to Follow

Australian VALORANT fans will have another local event the following weekend.

Watch parties for the VCT Champions Grand Finals are scheduled for 18 October at Fortress Melbourne and Fortress Sydney from 4pm.

The international tournament in Shanghai carries a US$1 million first prize. Australian player Autumn is competing for Global Esports after the team won the VCT Pacific Stage 2 Finals.

With PAX Aus also taking place during Melbourne International Games Week, the VALORANT activation adds another major gaming and esports brand to a busy period for Australia’s gaming community.
