After the huge success of the inaugural World Poker Tour Australia event last year, the WPT have announced a return to the Gold Coast in 2020 for Season XIX.
The World Poker Tour have today announced that the WPT Australia festival will be returning to The Star Gold Coast this September. Commencing September 24th 2020, the series will feature a $1,100 WPT DeepStacks event and be highlighted by the $5,400 WPT Australia Main Event which kicks off October 2nd 2020.
This will mark the first time the WPT Australia event is part of the WPT Main Tour with Season XIX kicking off in Cambodia in July 2020, before the Gold Coast event as the second stop of the season.
Before that, the WPT will be also back to the Gold Coast for a $1,500 buy-in WPT DeepStacks event from April 30th – May 4th 2020.
These events build upon the success of the World Poker Tour to these shores in 2019. The inaugural WPT Australia event attracted 658 entries and a whopping prize pool of $1.48 million with Hari Varma emerging victorious for $274,247 in prize money.
A third event for the Gold Coast has also been announced, with another WPT DeepStacks Gold Coast festival in April 2021, featuring a $1,500 buy-in Main Event.
