Vicinity Centres and Fortress Esports Pty Ltd has revealed that the Southern Hemisphere’s first video gaming and esports entertainment venue will open at Emporium Melbourne at the beginning of 2020. Redefining the way people play video games, Fortress Melbourne will be one of the world’s largest integrated gaming destinations with a 2,700m2 building, spaced out across two levels.

The venue will cater for all, from gamers, to families and tourists to Melbourne, Fortress Melbourne will offer an Australian first experience with a 200-seat purpose built esports arena, console gaming suites, more than 160 gaming PCs, dedicated streamer pods, RPG and tabletop game play area, function rooms, a full-service restaurant and two bars all part of the new facility.

With an opening date expected for early 2020, Fortress Esports will appeal to gamers of all ages, skill ability and commitment in an inviting space specially designed by global architectural design firm Populous, who previously designed ANZ Stadium and the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Located on Emporium Melbourne’s lower levels, construction is already underway.
