Draftstars are getting punters ready for a big Autumn racing carnival with the launch of their brand new fantasy horse racing product.
The glory days of fantasy horse racing in Australia saw some of the biggest prize pools ever seen in the daily fantasy sports industry in this country. While there has been a lull in action in recent times, Draftstars are hoping to re-ignite that flame with the launch of their new horse racing product.
The official launch will be this Wednesday, February 26th, at the meeting at Sandown and to kick things off, Draftstars are putting up a healthy $20,000 guaranteed prize pool.
The new racing product at Draftstars should appeal to both serious horse racing punters as well as recreational DFS players.
Much like a typical DFS contest where you pick one player per position, in these horse racing contests, you put together your own stable featuring one horse from each race in the contest. You’re effectively given $1 to wager each-way on each horse, and at the end of the race, winnings will be allocated as points based on the closing S-TAB tote price. So betting the favourite might get you some points, but it may not be enough to be amongst the leaders in the contest.
You don’t have the option to change your bet amounts or spread your bets over multiple horses, but you can change your selections at any time, even after the contest has started. This opens up some strategy as you’ll have to keep an eye on the leaderboard to see what you need to get amongst the cash prize winners.
The team at Draftstars are excited by this new offering, and it should be well supported by the DFS community. If things go well on Wednesday, perhaps we’ll see some even larger prize pools before the Autumn racing carnival is over.
